School-Based Mental Health Services
Access to mental health services at school allows students to build resilience and increase their readiness to learn in a space that is safe and accessible to them. We look forward to supporting your child toward their overall wellness!
If you are interested in school-based mental health services, please contact your child’s School Counselor for a referral and intake packet.
Welcome Back, Students!
Starting in the 2024-2025 school year, HCCH will be offering outpatient mental health services to some students in Avery County Schools and Watauga County Schools. We are currently serving students attending Avery High School, Avery Middle School in Avery County and Blowing Rock Elementary, Cove Creek Elementary, Valle Crucis Elementary, and Watauga High School in Watauga County. Families may opt for their child to meet with a licensed therapist (LCSW(A), LCMHC(A), or PhD/PsyD) on campus during the school day to address a number of concerns including:

- Managing worry, stress, and anxiety
- Improving mood
- Boosting self-confidence
- Managing conflict with peers or authority figures
- Coping with grief
- Developing healthier eating habits
- Improving sleep and bedtime routine
- Breaking habits with tobacco, alcohol, or other substances
- Improving health with exercise and physical movement
- Managing health conditions such as diabetes (i.e. lifestyle changes)
- Parenting support strategies
