About the Role

Nature of the Position:
Under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager and other Staff Pharmacists, the Pharmacy
Technician assists in maintaining an organized and efficient workflow from prescription intake
to dispensing. The Pharmacy Technician will prepare medications for pharmacist verification as
applicable to state and federal laws.

Pharmacy Technician duties include but are not limited to:
 Receive, process, and input prescription orders accurately and efficiently.
 Prepare medications for pharmacist verification, including counting, pouring, labeling,
and packaging.
 Ensure accuracy of patient demographics, insurance information, and prescription details.
 Greet and assist patients with professionalism and cultural sensitivity.
 Answer phone calls, handle refill requests, and manage prescription pick-up processes.
 Support patients with questions within technician scope; escalate clinical concerns to a
pharmacist.
 Assist patients in navigating affordability options, including FQHC sliding-fee programs
and 340B eligibility.
 Assist with physical inventory processes including proper segregation of 340B, and non-
340B transactions to prevent diversion and duplicate discounts.
 Support split-billing workflows and flag potential 340B eligibility issues for pharmacist
review.
 Maintain accurate transaction and inventory documentation to support audit readiness.
 Report any concerns about possible diversion or duplicate discounts to the Pharmacy
Manager or Director of Pharmacy.
 Order medications through appropriate accounts (340B or WAC).
 Receive and stock medication orders, verifying accuracy and checking for shortages or
discrepancies.
 Monitor inventory levels to minimize stockouts and maintain sufficient inventory.

 Rotate stock, check for expirations, and maintain cleanliness and organization of all
storage areas.
 Assist with controlled substance inventory processes, if requested.
 Adhere to state and federal pharmacy laws, including HIPAA, OSHA, and Board of
Pharmacy regulations.
 Follow USP standards where applicable.
 Maintain accurate documentation (temperature, returns, expiration checks, etc.) as
required.
 Assist with internal and external audits, including 340B, HRSA, PBM, and DEA reviews,
if requested.
 Process insurance claims and assist with resolving third-party rejections.
 Support prescription transfers in/out, if requested.
 Manage cash handling, point-of-sale systems, and daily financial reconciliation tasks.
 Prepare reports or documentation as requested by the Pharmacy Manager of Staff
Pharmacist.
 Support pharmacists and providers with workflow needs, refill requests, and patient
outreach.
 Participate in staff meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and required trainings.
 Maintain open communication with clinic teams, care coordinators, and support
departments.
 Handle hazardous drugs and waste according to company policy.
 Keep the pharmacy clean, organized, and compliant with safety protocols.
 Assist in maintaining security of medications, controlled substances, and confidential
patient information.

Requirements

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

 High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.

 Previous pharmacy experience preferred but not required.

 PTCB Certification preferred but not required.

 Must possess or be eligible to obtain a license from the State Board of Pharmacy.

Physical Requirements:

 Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling,

crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity.

 Generally, the job requires prolonged periods of standing or walking, some

periods of being seated.
