About the Role
IT Software Trainer
High Country Community Health (HCCH) is located in the mountains of North
Carolina’s beautiful “High Country” and provides quality, patient-centered, culturally
appropriate, affordable and compassionate care that serves the whole person. We are
looking for someone to fill our new position of Electronic Health Records Software
Trainer. This full time position is responsible for providing software training for all
computer users in our organization. This includes developing the training curriculum to
match the training needs of the organization, the clinics, the physicians, the various
departments, and all staff that use computers.
HCCH is headquartered in Boone North Carolina, and operates nine medical, dental, and
behavioral health clinics all about an hour away or less from Boone. The software
systems being used include eClinical Work’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) Software
system, MS Office Suite Software, Google Suite, and other business, clinical, and report
generation software applications.
High Country Community Health will have our EHR software company train and certify
the person accepting this position. This employee will work with the IT Team in
developing training plans and providing training to clinical, business, and administrative
staff at all levels of the organization including training physicians on how to fully utilize
the software. The individual will work closely with medical and behavioral health
providers, support staff, and administration to maximize the use of the eClinical Works
electronic health record system. This employee will help ensure that all employees use
the software systems correctly.
Duties to Include:
Work with the Software Manager, department/clinic managers, and senior management to assess the training needs of the departments/clinics and develop and refine all training materials. Conduct user and department computer software skills gap analyses. Document and communicate training suggestions and additional needs of the end users to their managers and the IT Software Manager.
Design training content and update training documentation based on adult learning principles and instructional design best practices. Assess individual and group training needs and research, plan, and prepare lessons. Apply educational methods to engage trainees (i.e. gamification-based platforms). Organize and promote all software classes.\
Facilitate training to staff at all levels, primarily on-site, or remotely, via multiple delivery modes including VILT, e-learning, classroom and blended solutions as necessary using a variety of adult learning and instructional design techniques. Make use of new technologies such as distance learning and video conferencing. Research and recommend learning systems (like TalentLMS and WiZDOM Enterprise).
Provide Software training classes, software learning labs and software user consulting on specific user clinic/department computer projects. Teach general staff to use desktop programs such as Microsoft Office and other office software.
Train all clinic, Support, operations staff as well as providers on the EHR software system. Train all new employees on proper use of hardware and software. Perform regular organization-wide trainings on system security and review company policies on computer use and cyber security.
Provide Super User role training, Super User software testing training, and provide clinic shadowing/software training sessions for providers.
Develop and prepare training materials and develop concise, eye catching and effective software user guides. Design technical manuals using simple language and maintain updated records of training curriculum and materials.
Develop training examinations, assess trainee skills progression, provide feedback, and keep records of all classes, attendees, and attendee exam scores. Evaluate the effectiveness of each educational session.
Provide software support (phone, email) and associated training as needed to end users and provide support, training, and assistance to the IT helpdesk staff. Respond to and resolve software support tickets assigned by the help desk.
Monitor software maintenance updates and test new features or software upgrades. Troubleshoot emergent needs within the EHR.
Demonstrate a high degree of skill in communication and positive interactions with end users and employees.
Requirements
IT Software Trainer Requirements/Qualifications/Skills/Experience: Proven work experience as an IT Trainer, Technical Trainer or similar role and experience designing technical course materialsFamiliarity with web-based learning platforms and modern adult education techniquesGood understanding of corporate and clinical computer security principlesExcellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical terms plainlyExcellent presentation skills of a high order and adaptability to changing training situationsExperience working with an electronic medical record system desirableBachelor’s degree or higher in related field such as Education, Accounting, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Business, Finance, Technical Design, or a relevant field preferredAdditional certification in training (e.g. Certified Technical Trainer) and experience in conducting training in specific software applications is a plus.Additional qualifications in management or business studies may prove advantageous.IT Software Trainer Travel Requirements:Travel for continuing education/training as needed (at least yearly). Travel between sites.Employee must live within an hour of Watauga County
